Philosophy of Care

Pregnancy and birth are normal life processes that are aided by good nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, and supportive care. Red Tent Midwifery is committed to providing compassionate, family-centered care in which both the midwife and the parent(s) are actively engaged in the decision-making process. You are a client, never a patient. The midwife's role is to provide you with information to help you make decisions for your care, to monitor your health and that of your baby to ensure the process is unfolding normally, to provide continuous support during labor and birth, and to identify when higher level care is needed and to aid access to such care.
